The Southern Tier Welcome Center is a great place to take a break from driving I-81 but it offers a whole lot more. Outside, there are practical amenities such as a motorcycle shelter, animal comfort area, two fast-charging electric car charging stations, and a canoe regatta-themed playground for the kids. You’ll also see the familiar I LOVE NY sculpture with a picturesque mountain backdrop and a nod to nearby Watkins Glen with a race car entrance sign. Inside the welcome center there’s complimentary wi-fi, a ceiling sculpture donated by the Corning Museum of Glass, and a full Taste NY market with counter service offering regionally sourced food and drink. You’ll also find lots of useful information for your visit to the Southern Tier; there’s even a tourism ambassador on site from 9 am to 5 pm, 7 days a week. Hours of operation: Oct 1 – Mar 31: 9 am – 5 pm, daily. Apr 1 – Sept 30: 8 am – 7 pm, daily.
